Many people believe that all Mexican food is spicy. This is not true. Mexican food can be sweet, savory, and spicy as well.
Known for its varied flavours, wide variety of native spices and ingredients as well as colorful presentations, the cuisine is primarily based on pre-Colombian traditions combined with the culinary trends introduced by Spanish colonists. It is a melting pot of different cuisines, reflecting rich French, Caribbean, Asian and African influences as well as many other recent influences absorbed through foreign immigrants and in the course of foreign trade during the colonial period.
